Writing Course

This is the Source of APA Style 6th Edition

Writing Assignment

First, I am going to explain the definition of APA Style in scientific writing. Based on definition of APA style, I conclude that APA style requires that information be cited in two different ways within the text and in a reference list at the end of the paper. The reference list should be on a new page, double-spaced, and use the hanging indent method (all lines after the first one are indented). APA style is usually used in scientific writing such as thesis and dissertation. If we use this style, we must watch all of the rules.
According to d.schaeffer in Library Guide, there are many ways to cite in text, for example cited from Journals, Magazines, and Newspapers. This is the way to cite those:
  1.  Author, A. A., Author, B. B., & Author, C. C. (Year). Title of article. Title of Journal, xx, xxx-xxx.
This is the way to cite text from books, chapters in book and reports:

  1. General Form will be: Author, A. A. (Year). Title of work. Location: Publisher.
  2. if only one author will be: Alexie, S. (1992). The business of fancydancing: Stories and poems. Brooklyn, NY: Hang Loose Press.
  3. Chapter in books will be: Booth-LaForce, C., & Kerns, K. A. (2009). Child-parent attachment relationships, peer  relationships, and peer-group functioning. In K. H. Rubin, W. M. Bukowski, & B. Laursen (Eds.), Handbook of peer interactions, relationships, and groups (pp. 490-507). New York, NY: Guilford Press.
  4.  Report Form will be: Shyyan, V., Thurlow, M., & Liu, K. (2005). Student perceptions of instructional strategies: Voices of English language learners with disabilities. Minneapolis, MN: National Center on Educational Outcomes, University of Minnesota. Retrieved from the ERIC database.(ED495903)
Second one, I am going to compare my research plan with previous research proposal. It was published by Putri Humaira (http://www.scribd.com/doc/47760690/improving-junior-hight-school-student-s-speaking-ability-by-using-videos). I took a topic about improving students’ speaking ability by using video. Actually, there are several distinctions in my research plan with previous research proposal. First, my research plan is not only using video, but also using voice recorder. Second, I will use the participant to senior high school students. Third, I will identify the effectiveness of videos in the speaking class in improving the students’ speaking proficiency. Fourth, I will describe the effectiveness of videos in increasing students’ motivation in the speaking class.
